LindzCAD vs snoCAD-X
snoCAD-X has been the go-to open-source ski and snowboard CAD program since Graf Snowboards open-sourced it in 2014. LindzCAD targets the same builders — with a different philosophy.
snoCAD-X strengths
- Free, open source, proven in the community
- Parametric ski/snowboard geometry focused on core builders
- Desktop Java app — works offline once installed
Where LindzCAD fits
- Browser-based — no Java install; works on Windows, Mac, Linux, and mobile browsers
- Real-time 3D — drag gizmos and sliders with instant visual feedback
- AI graphics — generate and edit topsheet art in-app
- Mold & CAM exports — DXF mold side views, tech PDFs, STL/OBJ, optional G-code bundle
- Beginner-friendly — presets and guided UI for first-time designers
Which should you choose?
If you want a free offline classic tool and are comfortable with snoCAD-X’s workflow, keep using it — LindzCAD is not a drop-in replacement for every legacy script. If you want integrated 3D, AI art, mold visualization, and modern exports in one web app, LindzCAD is built for that path.
Many shops will use both: snoCAD-X for certain legacy workflows and LindzCAD for client-facing design, graphics, and export packages.
